What are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are thin ceramic shells that are placed over the existing tooth in order to cover unsightly issues such as staining or chipped teeth. Dental veneers are helpful in repairing cracked or misaligned teeth as well. Normally, dental veneers are installed over a process of two to three visits. During your first appointment, your dentist will discuss the new look and shape that your veneers will give your teeth. Once you and your dentist have agreed on a plan, the teeth will be prepared for the proper placement of the veneers. After this has been done, an impression of your teeth will be made in order to ensure that your veneers fit your mouth perfectly. Once this has been done, the impression is then sent off to a lab where your veneers will be made. This process normally takes between 10-14 days. Your dentist will provide you with temporary veneers while you are awaiting your more permanent set. Lastly, your veneers will be bonded to your natural teeth.
